... "if God created us in His image or if we created Him in ours?"
was reading this in Donald Miller's latest book: Searching for God knows what. and it really hit me. don't know why, don't know how.. just kinda felt this huge divine nudge. i guess in each circumstance that we go through in life, it seems as though we change a little bit of how we perceive God. for example... when we're sick, God is the ultimate Healer. when we're low on cash, God is the ultimate Provider. when we notice other people doing wrong, God is the Judge. makes sense, cuz God IS all that. but here's the part that kinda gets messed up. when we're healthy, we don't really see God as our Sustainer. when we have enough cash, we kinda shun God and forget that He's the One that has provided. and of course, when WE do wrong... we don't see God as the Judge, but we see God as the merciful, loving One. not that He isn't all that, but why does our view of God change depending on our circumstance, if God's the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow? so if He was the Judge yesterday, what makes us think that He isn't the Judge today? if He's merciful today, what makes us think that He wasn't merciful yesterday? or won't be merciful tomorrow?
so what's all this rant about? was just thinkin how sometimes we think we've got God pegged down... and figured out. and then He goes and blows our minds outta the water, shocking us with His Sovereignty. and it becomes yet another reminder of how small and unworthy we really are, and still God loves us so much and pursues us with a never-ending passion. ain't that great? :)
